Several Reasons Why Your Hair Isn’t Growing

Several Reasons Why Your Hair Isn’t Growing

I know it’s frustrating going through your Natural Hair Journey without as much as 3 inches in 6 months of TLC.  Well here are a few things you might be doing wrong that could lead to hair loss.

1.  Overuse of Gel

You’d be surprised how dry gel makes your hair.  It’s highly suggested that you condition your hair before applying gel to style it.  Even with conditioner, many have found they still experience massive hair loss, because of the overuse of gel in slick back hairstyles.

Recommended:

Decrease the amount of times you use gel to style your natural hair.

2.  Apply Hair Oil Incorrectly

Oil is really good for your hair.  It’s a way of giving it nutrients and hydrating the strands & follicles.  But the mistake some people make is, that they don’t know they need to dampen their hair before applying the hair oil.

Recommended:

Dampen your hair with rose water, (not regular distilled water) then apply your hair oil to your hair strands & scalp.

3.  Too Many Protective Styles

Protective styles are important for hair growth, but there has to be a balance.  It is important to take your hair down and let it have some TLC personally.  Cause while you can dampen & oil your scalp it's not the same as treating your hair while it's free and open.

Recommended:

Before going to the salon or your favorite stylist to get your hair redone.  Take a month or two to oil, shampoo, deep condition, and treat your hair.  Find out what home remedies and other natural products your hair likes.  It's been with you since you were born.  Give it some love and attention.

4.  Not Taking Care of Your Hair While It's in a Protective Style

A lot of people tend to put their hair in protective hairstyles and forget about it.  This leads to your hair drying out and making it easy to develop dead ends.  Along with this makes your hair break easier, especially if you have brittle hair as it is.

Recommended:

Unless you have a sew-in, you can pretty much reach your scalp with any hairstyle you wear.  So I would recommend that you spray your hair with rose water and massage it with some hair oil.  This can be a weekly chore.  If you want the best results from this, you'd have to do this every other two days.
