What are dead and split ends?

Dead and split ends are signs of damaged hair.  This damage could come from a number of different things.  Such as the following...

- Excessive Heat

- Chemical Agents

- Over manipulation

- Excessive Dryness & Breakage

- Excessive use of hair products outside of the 4-7pH range

- Over Shampooing

- Excessive Chlorine Exposure (from swimming pools)

- Dehydration

- Excessive contact with cotton or non-silk fabrics (pillows, towel, etc.)

- Non-water-based Conditioners

There are more possible reasons that could lead to this kind of damage to your hair.

What is this prevention method?

In this video, the method that Kayla is going over is a moisturizing method.  It will mostly benefit those of dry hair and scalp problems.  There are other ways to prevent dead and or split ends, but this is just a possible solution to hair dryness for 4C & 4B hair types.

Step 1: Separate your hair into sections.

Step 2: Spray water on the hair strands & scalp.  Do not let your hair dry before placing the oil on your hair.

Step 3: Place oil on the strands, roots, scalp, and most importantly ends of your hair.

Step 4 (Optional): If you're someone with long hair, then it will benefit you to braid your hair after you're done with a section.

What will this method do for my hair?

The water has moisturizing capabilities, but it can dry out your scalp once your hair dries same as your skin.  If your hair dries at any point in time before you oil your scalp, it is highly recommended that you reapply the water to moisturize your hair again.  The oil will lock in the moisture into your strands, this will help keep your hair healthy.

What kind of oil can I use?

There are multiple different oils that you can use that would do wonders for your hair.  Some oils are meant for specific kind of hair types and textures.  If you don't have any personal preference for what kind of oil, you can use.   Here on our "Hair Acessories" page of our website, you can find hair oil and choose the "Hair Growth Oil" product and it'll help with nurturing your hair health.
